I've pinched your photos 😁 for inspiration to convert the rather basic H/C kit I have.
it just has a boring 'bubble' on top 🤔
Cheers, Doug 😎
From Australia. Here are some more of Sid,s Boats. All scratch built. The last one is a Amphibias.

This is a photo of almost completed 2 model boats I have almost completed. The Sea Queen 50 years old find. it was found in an attic in a kit. The kit was in a very poor state and most of the timberwork had to be glued back together or remade. I had no plans for it and had to source a copy from the Model Boat website. it is a very nice model. The pilot boat was scratch built and sails very nicely. I have been building boats for about 30years and have built over 25 boats, scratch built all of them. I have included photos of some of my boats.
- RNinMunichAlmirante de la flotaExcellent neat work Sid 👍
Lovely finish on the varnish.
What scale is the LST? She looks huge!😲
Cheers, Doug 😎
The project is to make the blue light flash. The video shows the three stages of prototyping. The first is the circuit built on a Breadboard. The second part is the actual circuit reduced in size ready to hide inside the boat. The third part is the LED fitted in the incorrect position to show how effective it will be.
I have added a trimmer pot to the circuit so that I can select a suitable frequency that looks right at a later date.
Thanks to Doug for his help to get started and give me some hints about how the circuit works.🤓😊
- b111yboy71ReclutarHi chaps, just for info, 'Bright Components' do 6 different colours of flashing LEDs very reasonably priced. Also flickering - very interesting.😉
- RNinMunichAlmirante de la flotaSure! But isn't it more satisfying to make it do it yourself, and take control?

Bought s/h & given a makeover.
- RNinMunichAlmirante de la flotaHi Weedman, there are several of us on the site who have upgraded or are upgrading Southampton and Richardson (same thing - different name and colour scheme!) tugs.
Look for NPJ's Southampton thread, or just use the site Search function to look for 'Southampton or Richardson. The secrets you are looking for are there😉👍 Cheers, Doug 😎 - TheBlacksmithMarinero capazThe Southampton has lots of screws around the deck but some are under the bollards so you need to remove them, there are two aft bollards which need to be gently prised loose but the others are scewed to the bulwarks.
I changed the radio in mine as well as the motor/gearboxes and fitted a v.tail mixer from www.mr-rcworld.co.uk with 2 speed contollers as well as converting the battery holder to take a six volt nimh pack. The effect is awesome.
Happy sailing😁Le gusta a Donnieboy
sails and keel👍
I've been wanting to have a go at Z38 for a long time.
Those 1936 / Narvic classes had nice lines.
Sea keeping wasn't so hot in the originals apparently!
Like the 'scope idea, will try it on my U26.
Saves having to break into the pressure hull👍
Which was always my biggest problem on COMMS system designs for 'toys' for the 'big boys'; minimising the hull breakthroughs!
With such a simple float how do you make it so 'free running' that it doesn't bind?
Cheers, Doug 😎
The U boat scopes are both aluminium. They are loose so I can put one or both in before sailing. The floats are balsa wood and painted for sealing.
