Acerca de este barco

Based on the kit Ayton Cross by Mobile Marine and dedicated to my two grandsons. I have added a working winch for towing aft, two working radars off the mast , running/ navigation, towing , wheelhouse and deck lights. Raboesch 19x22 bow thruster and sound system from Component Shop representing twin deisels. The two main 15amp ESC's are Electronize (unfortunately out of business now). The hull is GRP with wooden superstructure.

Thanks Doug, under the umbrella of not knowing much about electronics, I sourced a micro / nano 2 phase 4 wire stepper motor and a 5v driver complete with remote controller and reduced the 12v supply accordingly with a regulator. I then retrained to be a "micro surgeon" to wire it! Results are not as good as I had hoped as the lowest speed is jerkey and the lowest smooth speed is a little too fast but I'll live with it for now and put it down to experience. Maybe it could be smoother with a Arduino controller but I couldn't find any constructive advice at the time and wasn't prepared to invest the study time. I'm guessing electronics is your thing 🤔 At least I learned something!😌

    Brilliant, slick job Seafarer👍
    I especially like the illumination.
Reminds me of what I've often seen on tugs in Hamburg.
What are you using for radar drives?
On my destroyer (some thirty years ago😉) I used a converted servo powered by a 1.5V alkaline cell. Switchable via a home made 4 function circuit board. Ran for yonks on one cell.
    Happy tugging. Cheers, Doug 😎
