B. Maquetas navales dinámicas RC (radio controladas).

B3. Maquetas dinámicas RC con motores de vapor.
B4. Maquetas dinámicas RC (a vela).
B5. Maquetas dinámicas RC (a vela y motor).

I love your way of thinking, Stephen! I'm with you on this one.

In my case, I've been searching everywhere for plans and information about some of the beautiful vintage models I've seen fellow members posting here.
Some have found their models online, while others have bought them secondhand and are restoring them.

Seeing these projects has really sparked my enthusiasm for these classic boats!

In my search, I also came across the website you mentioned, and I ended up purchasing two plans: the "Fairey Marine Swordsman" and the "Piranha".
Both are beautiful, vintage designs with sleek lines, and I'm looking forward to exploring them further.

One thing I've learned from being part of this community is that sharing information helps everyone.
So, whenever I have plans that someone else is looking for, I'll gladly share them.

Thanks for posting the link, Stephen. It's great to discover another resource for these wonderful old models!

That's also what modeling is about: starting with a piece of plan, adjusting the scale, and fine-tuning the details from photos, and why not improvise some details... plus researching documents online or using AI... In my opinion, I find this approach incredibly interesting and very rewarding. Furthermore, there are free 2D or 3D drawing software that are far more than sufficient for our hobby.... In my opinion, I wonder if I don't enjoy designing as much as I do creating the model...

Have a good day to everyone

There are no reasons good close up picture cannot be filed by the name and boat manufacturer, when a person posts their own builds, so then people can get a visual representation so maybe you could start with is approach.
Also I found this website online so a link when appropriate to the design page if they stock it would be useful. I'm sure other sites may have linkable plans as well http://www.vintagemodelplans.com

A repository of CAD models, STL files and SVG files that members are able to share. I see more and more members are 3D printing and laser cutting. Even sections on these technologies for members to share their experience would be great.

My Two cents worth..
Take a notion idea, someone already made model or maybe just a picture fron the internet ect ect .
Redesign and scratch build a model from all the information gathered.
The section / topic could be called 'I do it my way' Col

Stephen, I totally agree with you! I’m a perfect example of why this would be such a great idea.

Lately, I’ve developed a real interest in vintage models like the Rapier, Stiletto, and others.

If it weren’t for Chris and his willingness to share his plans and knowledge, I might never have had the opportunity to build these wonderful classic boats.
Having a dedicated place to share and preserve plans for discontinued models would be a tremendous resource for the whole modeling community! 👍

I would like to see more category headings added to make it easier to find specific items when searching for useful reference information.

MBW is a very useful reference resource that has a LOT of good information hidden away that is mostly lost from sight as it ages, but it could be exactly what someone would find helpful if they only had to search in certain categories to find it.

These category headings could be added as demand showed a specific interest and could include titles such as:

Yachts and Sails.
Power Boats.
Vintage Model Kits and Manufacturers.
Steam Engines and Steam Powered Models.
Marine Model Engines.
Electric Motors and Speed Controllers.
Submarines.
Ships and Warships.

Bob.

@BOB27600 To some extent this is already in Articles & Links though I must admit I rarely go in there. Perhaps it should have sub-sections as on some other forums, but it's success will depend on members posting tips, tools and suggestions etc.

Edit: Just had a look and there is some useful stuff in there which I've never seen. I've never looked at the links either!

@fireboat Hi Steven, I personally would very much like to see more on live steam model boats. As there is next to no coverage on this subject at the moment. I would also be very interested to find what is available in Europe on the live steam engine and gas fired boiler front, as this site now has quite a few European members. Regards, Gary.

@BOB27600 I have got some ideas in this area 👍 - also with languages and translations... currently we technically only accept posts in English, but I think there's a potential to allow a few other languages too, and to auto-translate where needed.

@StephenR1 Plans we have to be a little careful of because of copyright. At least when making them publicly available. Although I totally agree it would be a very useful resource.

I would like to see an areas where people can upload building plans for boats, especially older, no longer, available kits. These would be especially useful when buying or inheriting old boats with the view to restoring them

Tips on tools... perhaps some technical information on radio control, wiring diagrams for motors with speed controllers... various explanations regarding BEC/non-BEC setups, the use of voltage regulators...
Otherwise, a very good site with lots of interactivity... great!

What new features would you like to see on MBW?

I'm always looking for ways to improve this site and we're at a stage now where the site has stabilised again since it's overhaul at the start of this year. Now we're on a new platform with greater potential, I thought it would be good to ask everyone what they'd like to see, that perhaps doesn't exist today.

This can be new features, or improvements on what we have currently. Anything you'd like to see done differently?

If you could add one thing to the website, what would it be? 😊

All suggestions are welcome! (I think) 😁

Stephen
